Wisdom within Reach |
Guidance from Grandma author, wants to learn how to listen to Guidance from Grandma in order to be able to share more openly the messages and daily life lessons gained from routine experience. An awareness of the learning and growing process can turn the common into the uncommon, and with a desire to share for the benefit of others, can turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. That can make every day's activity rewarding.
A Lesson from my teacher helped me know how to listen to inner wisdom, by priming the pump so to speak, asking the following questions:
Who am I? What is my purpose? What am I grateful for? What do I want? What kind of relationships do I want? What innate skills and talents do I have? How can I best use my abilities? What stories or people inspire me? What do I contribute to others?
This morning began with no chores required, no schedule to keep, few demands on my time so there was time to organize my thinking, asking myself important questions, and ordering my day. I edited the bulletins for Sunday's church service, and prepared to do other errands in town, like checking the mail at the post office, and having bulletins copied at the print shop. I took along the computer part that was intimidating me. My new best friends, the guys at the computer shop across from the Post office, had generously offered to answer questions for me any time.
A current priority on maintaining serenity and peace of mind helped me decide to forgo one thing from my schedule, as I began to feel pressured for time. I skipped the discussion meeting with friends and stayed on course getting necessary errands done. After I met up with a friend to discuss women's wisdom type topics, and got everything else done, there was plenty of time to stop by the computer shop. It was easy to learn the simple guidelines, useful for many things in life, of knowing what to ignore, and recognizing unnecessary options in order to use the gadget properly.
Mindful in the Moment |
Starting the day with attention given to organization and preparation, with the thought of having a good day, turned into the experience of having a very good day. The excitement of anticipation was provided by the invitation to play piano backup for music at clergy retreat in two weeks, along with writing a story to be told there.
Gratitude flows from the Heart through the Hands at my Piano |
Each day, when I do ask, what is my purpose? What do I want? How can I best use my abilities? What can inspire me today to be helpful to others? The answers will come as seeming coincidences and opportunities. Listening with the mind, the heart, the emotions, the body and the intuition, helps make a connection to guidance that comes from deeper than thinking, and further beyond knowing. Some say there are no coincidences, rather that is when God is remaining anonymous. For anonymity in coincidence, and for silent guidance, I am grateful.
